He heard my prayer and He answered
Living in sin can become warm and cozy. Becoming comfortable in doing wrong is a dangerous place to be. Especially for a child of God. But how can a child of God live in sin? God's Word instructs us that “These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death. James 1:15 NLT. My desires were not the sin but the actions that I took to fulfill those desires was the sin. So how can a child of God live in sin? We all have wants, and desires but when we are intice to the point of taking action. To the point of covetness, deception, lust, greed or any other selfish action that is the sin that leads to death. When we become comfortable with our sinful actions then we are living in sin. But can I stop for a moment to thank Jesus for His sweet Holy Spirit. One function of the Holy Spirit is to convict us of wrong. That's exactly what the Holy Spirit started doing in my heart and mind. I started feeling uncomfortable in my sin. My prayer became, "Lord free me but don't let me get caught in my sin." I knew I needed His deliverance. My God heard my prayers and delivered me. Thank you Jesus.
You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. John 8:32.
I was set free. Jesus delivered me from me. It required me to trust Him, humble myself and stand up for righteousness regardless of whom I had to face. My delieverance came through confessing the truth. Meaning I had to expose my own sin and in doing so the captive was made free. I didn't realize this blessing in disguise then but I see it now. Before my deliverance God had started working on my heart. What used to feel like home started to feel uncomfortable. What was familiar began to feel distasteful. I was experiencing His conviction. As conviction opened my eyes my desires began to change. So when that time came for God to open the door for me escape from the prison of lies I held my head up, looked straight ahead and confessed the truth. Exposing myself. God heard my prayer and answered my prayer. He freed me and didn't allow me to get caught in my sin. Exposure hurts. But that exposure made way for my escape from the sin that so easily ensared me.
If you find yourself in this situation or know of someone in this situation the best thing you can do is to continually pray for deliverance and forgiveness. I promise you God hears and He's working on your behalf.
